It's been months and months since anyone's posted to this blog, so I've come here to dust the cobwebs off. Yes, that's right, John Travolta's "disco duo" of movies has pulled me out of seclusion and forced me to comment. But before we go on, have a look at this to get you in the mood for this post:
Allow me to be frank: This video is awesome. Or, as the girl at 2:20 says, "All right!" I got Saturday Night Fever and Staying Alive as part of a Christmas gift exchange (the letter this year was Read more [...] Travolta Double Feature

Ryan was gone on a trip to Germany for a few weeks, but on the flight back he managed to catch three sequels. In this post he attempts to review them but is distracted by bras. Fun Fact: The German word for "brassiere" is "Büstenhalter," literally meaning "Bosom-holder." Ich liebe Deutsch.
I've watched a few movies in the last couple days since Netflix here in Costa Rica started putting a little tag on the movies if they'll be expiring at the end of the month. All three of these are in that category.
This is actually Ryan, despite the title of this post. Last night I saw the 2011 movie Paul. But if the title of the post gets Paul out of seclusion to comment on the blog or write, even better.
If you've not seen Paul, it's basically about two nerds that go on a post-Comicon tour of UFO sites in the southwest US, only to actually find an alien. The alien is named Paul, and he's just escaped from a government facility and is trying to meet up with his own kind. He's evidently from a raunchy galaxy
I really liked the British original series of the same name, so I was initially skeptical 9 or so years ago when they made an American version. Why mess with something that was so great, right? Well, they did mess with it, but they tweaked it in a way that really gave the American version its own flare. It was less mean-hearted, and a bit more on the absurd side, which played well with me.
Maybe we don't notice the axe men because the lead singers hog the spotlight; actually, that's almost certainly the case. But that's tragic, because the guitarists are often the most interesting guys in a band. Or, as Jason Lee's lead singer character says in Almost Famous: "From the very beginning, we said I'm the front man, and you're the guitarist with mystique. That's the dynamic we agreed on!"
