It's one of the best opening credits I've ever seen, even though you're just watching a flight attendant walk through an airport. A lot of the reason it's cool is Pam Grier; my friend Josh and I would even imitate her "oh shit, I've gotta get a move on!" moment when she hikes up her purse and starts to speed walk. But the song has something undeniably great about it. Read more [...] Across 110th Street

As you may know, I really like Jesus Christ Superstar. I've written about it on my own blog and I've even written about it on this blog (last year--check here if you want). Since it's Easter, I thought I'd mention it again, especially because I've seen a few news items related to the movie and the musical in the news lately.
Playing chicken on a tractor? Fighting a local law prohibiting dancing? Crossing the state line to go to a bar and dance with some rednecks? Angry warehouse dancing? I can't say I enjoyed any of those activities, but for some reason, the movie always makes me nostalgic.
I titled this review "You Just Don't Get It, Do You?" based on a Dr. Evil quote from Austin Powers.

I just don't get this movie. I saw it was on Netflix and it had high ratings, and it seemed like something I'd like. But I didn't. It's about a girl named Frances who moves apartments a few times in New York, and then she doesn't really get a dancing job that she was trying out for. That's about it.
Ryan was gone on a trip to Germany for a few weeks, but on the flight back he managed to catch three sequels. In this post he attempts to review them but is distracted by bras. Fun Fact: The German word for "brassiere" is "Büstenhalter," literally meaning "Bosom-holder." Ich liebe Deutsch.
I've watched a few movies in the last couple days since Netflix here in Costa Rica started putting a little tag on the movies if they'll be expiring at the end of the month. All three of these are in that category.
