Atomic Film Fest: War Games… Sorry, I mean “WarGames”

Hello! It's been a while since I rapped at ya, but I've been busy. You know, baby and all. I've also not watched too many movies lately. But I've been doing Blogtoberfest throughout all my websites, and I thought it was high time for a new review on Cinematic Attic. Let me explain the idea of the Atomic Film Fest. A few months ago I read an article that mentioned a 1983 made-for-TV movie called The Day After. It was supposedly about an atomic attack on the US, and it followed a bunch of people Read more [...]

“Rock of Ages”: Just The Right Mix of Rock and Schlock For Me

The other night I convinced Angela to watch Rock of Ages with me. I should maybe rephrase that. The other night I tricked Angela into watching Rock of Ages with me. There, that sounds more accurate. See, Angela used to claim that she didn't like musicals, but with Jesus Christ Superstar, Mamma Mia!, and now this one, I think she may finally have put that claim to bed. We both surprisingly liked this movie. Yes, it's cheesy, but it's supposed to be. It's also embarrassing in the same way that Read more [...]

You Just Don’t Get It, Do You? The “Big Night” Edition

Oh, and then there's Skeletor (played by Marc Anthony). In fact, he's in the opening shot of the movie. I guess I should have maybe taken that as fair warning. You Just Don’t Get It, Do You? “Frances Ha” Edition

I titled this review "You Just Don't Get It, Do You?" based on a Dr. Evil quote from Austin Powers. Header-You-Just- I just don't get this movie. I saw it was on Netflix and it had high ratings, and it seemed like something I'd like. But I didn't. It's about a girl named Frances who moves apartments a few times in New York, and then she doesn't really get a dancing job that she was trying out for. That's about it. Read more [...]

A Look Back At 2013 On Oscar Night

Tonight are the Academy Awards. At least I think so. I'm enough of a movie fan to have started a movie website, so of course I'm interested in them, but I probably won't be able to watch them (last year a TV channel here in Costa Rica was playing a dubbed version, but it was pretty bad; that's irrelevant, though, since we moved our TV in the meantime and the antenna isn't connected, so we went from two channels to zero). It's also debatable how much the Oscars matter. Nevertheless, I sometimes Read more [...]
