Yeah, I'm kind of a jerk. I actually dislike American accents the most, but I realize that's ironic since I speak American English. Texas, The South, New England--all hurt my ears. British is OK, but still bad, though it's hard to say which ones are more or less abrasive, and I certainly don't get on board with fetishizing them like some Americans do.

Maybe it's because I've been teaching English to non-native speakers for a few years now, and maybe I hear different accents and think, "Great, NO WAY are my students going to understand that if I put it up for a listening exercise."

I think the only accents I like are my own and Stephen Hawking's. And I don't REALLY like my own that much (I mumble too much and talk way too fast), but if I don't like it, no one will.

What about British accents? Southern accents? You must hate accents. I get really excited when I hear people with Boston accents (even though I live in Boston…). I get excited by a lot of things. It's fun for me!

He was indeed! In that and Three Kings he seems like he'd be a pretty cool person to know, although I think that's kind of the role he plays (then again, he MAY be cool, so who knows).
I don't think I can get on board with the Boston accent in movies, though. It seems like every actor from Boston or in a movie that takes place in Boston is all like, "Hey, I'm from Boston and shit." I'm not into that.

I also have to say I enjoy movies with New England accents, especially Boston ones. And “Wahlberg” was the bomb in Boogie Nights.

I'm glad you put quotes on “Wahlberg.” People need to realize that he is known as Marky Mark and not that stupid “Mark Wahlberg” all those Hollywood types call him.
