Jake! I just saw Lincoln last night. Did you know Disney (they must own everything) gave a copy of Lincoln on dvd to every single school in the nation? So, naturally, I snatched that thing up right away.

I really liked it! I add this movie on the list of great Day-Lewis performances, for sure. You're right about it being "boring". However, at the end of the movie I really wanted to grab a history book or go on Wikipedia, read up on that part of American history, and then rewatch Lincoln knowing a bit more going in. That would actually be my advice to anyone thinking of watching this. I think if I do that I'll get a lot more out of it.

As far as reading all the names for the vote, it didn't bug me too much. I thought that a lot of those names were on the fence, even right up to the day of the vote, so the suspense was still there even when their name was read. It makes me wonder, though, if that's the way it actually was, or is at Spielberg making it more dramatic (What?! Spielberg wants drama?!)...

Great film. Right now, I'd give Lincoln a 15/17, but wonder if, upon some research and a second viewing, it would turn to a 17/17. The cinematograpghy, production/costume design, and make up were all definitely superb, but I think I can now try to pay attention to the history next time around. Might have to buy this thing.

Haha, nice one Deuce!

I've not seen this movie, but I'll have to see if it's at the video store here in Costa Rica (probably dubbed into Russian with Thai subtitles, but oh well). But it does sound interesting, just to see if I also think it's boring, haha...

I'm also glad you didn't give away the ending on this one, Jake, since I can't wait to find out what happens!
